Chefs Are Into Watches Too

Should all fine dining be accompanied by a nice watch? Well it seems many chefs do so! Through the years, while watching lots of Food Network shows, it wasn’t hard to realize that many chefs wear high-end watches in the kitchen. As a watch enthusiast, my perception of chefs in watches morphed from stylish to a NECESSITY. People may perceive wristwatches as mainly worn by businessmen-women or it’s the tool for training and sporting events. In my opinion, chefs gives off the true aesthetic to luxury and a tool watch owner.

One might wonder, how many times does a chef really look down at their timepiece to check the hours, minutes, and seconds until perfect presentation. If you’re able to catch a Food Network show, you might see never or someone take multiple millisecond glances at their wrist. My theory is, a watch to a chef, either provides comfort like they’re in a home kitchen. My other theory is its their mental notepad, assistant, or possibly the boogieman. Either way, there are hungry mouths ready to judge you.
Some of the big hitters in the food industry are passionate by what’s on their wrist. Plenty of us have seen Guy Fieri’s collection. Guy should be a watch connoisseur by now. SALTBAE combines the grail watch owner and food experience persona. For I, the #1 food luxury king and hidden watch collector is the never forgotten Anthony Bourdain. The majority of the times I’ve gotten to watch Anthony Bourdain talk food, I don’t think I’ve seen him without a watch. With all that traveling and jet lag, perhaps losing track of time was second nature. I believe the necessity of a tool watch for Mr. Bourdain, could NEVER have replaced the knife that started it all.
